The 10th World Spiritist Congress, this time organised by the French and French-speaking Spiritist Union (USFF), with the support of the International Spiritist Council ( ISC), took place on 14, 15 and 16 October. Initially planned for Nice, in the south of France, it was rethought over the last two years, due to the constraints imposed by the pandemic and, finally, due to the absolute uncertainty regarding future impediments, reprogrammed to take place exclusively in virtual format.
Thus, the 10th CEM, with the central theme “Intimate Reform” became the first World Spiritist Congress to be totally virtual, accessible to the whole world, without physical displacement and with almost no economic and logistical demands for those interested. It was broadcasted through the partner channels TvCEI, USFF, FEBtv, Federação Espírita Portuguesa, United States Spiritist Federation, Federación Espírita Española, FIDES – Italy, Espiritismo.net, Web rádio Fraternidade, Rádio Brasil Espírita, Federação Espírita Catarinense, Federação Espírita do Sergipe, RAETv, TvMansão do Caminho, Rádio Portal da Luz, IDEAK and Rádio Deus Conosco.
There were five keynot speakers: Divaldo Franco (Brazil), Edwin Bravo (Guatemala), Jorge Elarrat (Brazil), Jussara Korngold (USA) and Richard Buono (France) and 35 guest speakers for the round tables.
The Congress was held in four languages: Spanish, French, English and Portuguese. The main speakers approached the following sub-topics: “Inner reform throughout history, present in the three revelations” (Portuguese); “The beginning of inner reform: know yourself” (French); “Inner transformation in the Sermon of the Mount” (English); “Inner transformation and obsession” (Spanish). In the round tables, subjects such as: “Why do we suffer? The need for inner reform” (Portuguese); “Inner reform in the everyday life of the 21st Century” (French); “Inner reform in the moral education of children and young people” (Portuguese); “Inner reform and mediumship” (English); “The global inner reform of Humanity: The arrival of the Kingdom of Heaven” and “Inner reform and the Law of Progress” (both in Spanish).
The Congress also included interviews with representatives of the Brazilian, Spanish, Mexican and Portuguese Spiritist Federations, moments to divulge spiritist initiatives carried out in various countries, artistic moments with the countertenor João Paulo Ferreira and a very special surprise message from Raul Teixeira.
Thus spiritists from all over the world got together in an atmosphere of genuine fraternisation and spiritual celebration, exchanging vibrations of love, peace and gratitude and, with this, demonstrating that online events are here to stay and confirming their virtue of breaking down barriers, bringing nationalities closer together and fostering the true sense of universal family. But also, and no less important, taking the message of consolation and clarification of the Spiritist Doctrine, codified by Allan Kardec, to thirsty hearts, further than it could ever reach.
More than 16,000 views were counted on the first day alone.
