The 8th World Spiritist Congress took place on October 7, 8, and 9, 2016, in Lisbon, Portugal, promoted by the International Spiritist Council, coordinated and organized by the Portuguese Spiritist Federation.
The event gathered over 2,000 congress participants from various parts of the world, who attended 22 conferences delivered by doctors, psychologists, jurists, journalists, professors, engineers, economists, and managers, addressing the central theme: “In Defense of Life.”
The conferences discussed essential issues such as human rights, health, education, ethics, and sustainability, always based on the principles of Spiritist Doctrine. Through profound reflection, the Congress highlighted the importance of defending life in all its aspects and the need for a collective commitment to the well-being of all human beings and the planet.
The event featured internationally renowned speakers who shared their knowledge and experiences on how Spiritist teachings can contribute to building a more just, supportive, and harmonious society, respecting human dignity and the environment.
In addition to the conferences, the Congress also served as a space for the exchange of ideas and experiences among professionals from various fields, creating an environment of interprofessional dialogue and encouraging reflection on the role of Spiritism in the present day.
With a diverse audience made up of people of all ages and nationalities, the 8th World Spiritist Congress established itself as an event of great relevance to the Spiritist movement and society in general, reinforcing the commitment to the defense of life and the building of a better future for all.
