Janet was, above all, a pioneer.
Her path was not easy, and her firmness of character reflected the magnitude of the mission she embraced. With courage and determination, she brought Spiritism to England in the English language, opening doors where none existed and laying foundations that continue to sustain the movement today.
Unwavering in her convictions, Janet faced every challenge without hesitation, guided by a deep sense of responsibility and love for the Spiritist message. She worked tirelessly so that Spiritism could be understood, lived, and transmitted in the language of each country where it took root. Her influence helped shape Spiritist institutions around the world, reinforcing the importance of accessibility, clarity, and cultural presence.
In the United States and in many other nations, the commitment to establishing Spiritism in English owes much to her vision, encouragement, and example. For this, and for so much more, we remain profoundly grateful.
Janet was one of the founders and visionaries of the International Spiritist Council, standing as the only woman among eight men at its inception. Her presence was marked by moral authority, clarity of purpose, and steadfast dedication. She did not seek recognition; she served with conviction and left an indelible mark on the history of the international Spiritist movement.
Janet’s legacy endures in the institutions she helped build, in the languages through which Spiritism now speaks, and in the countless hearts awakened by her work.
The International Spiritist Council honors her life, her courage, and her unwavering commitment to the dissemination of Spiritism. May she rest in peace, embraced by the light she so faithfully served.
